MSc in Oil and Gas Technology has been especially designed for Engineers and related science graduates (Chemistry, Geology, Physics, mathematics, Accounting, Business Administration etc.).
Can I attend this MSc program if I don’t have an engineering or related science background? Yes, if you wish you may attend first undergraduate core courses in drilling and production engineering for one semester. In this case you are going to complete your MSc program in 4 semesters. Please note that we do not charge for undergraduate courses. Can I apply without having my degree yet? Yes, provided that by October 1st you have received your degree. The structure of this MSc combines Business Engineering Science and Technology (MBEST) i.e. Furthermore, our MBEST is 60 credit hours and a Thesis is 30 credit hours. Our provides very expensive High Tech instrumentation.
We have some objective criteria for student’s selection; e.g. type of degree, overall results, language score, etc. If it is deemed necessary, we may conduct an interview, too. It is important however for us the potential student to demonstrate a strong motivation towards our MSc course. How do you select students for financial aid? It is a combination of an excellent performance on undergraduate studies and graduate studies. Is it a program in petroleum engineering suitable for a female student? As a matter of fact it is. In oil industry the percentages of female employees are constantly increasing; women are mostly welcome in all major petroleum companies. Besides our MSc program combines business administration with engineering science and technology which is ideal for a career.
Why I have to pay a fee for processing my application after July 7th, or why I have to pay more money for an English assessment, or why I will not be eligible for financial aid as a late applicant? A critical parameter in organizing our MSc program as excellent as possible is the number of entrants. Late applicants, although welcomed, differentiate this policy. The required fees compensate this differentiation. Besides it is only applicable for those who will finally be accepted. Please also note that students who have not received their degrees yet, can still apply before July 7th with full privileges. What is the research open lab ware? Here at IHU we have been granted a large sum of money to upgrade our facilities. Rolware is a policy which welcomes outsiders to come and work with us on these facilities. As an MSc student may I work on these facilities? It is part of our core design of MSc in Oil and Gas Technology the students to carry out most of their Group Projects and Thesis on these facilities. Is it difficult to become familiar with these instruments? There are instruments which require a lot of experience, there are other that do not. Our technicians will help you gain the maximum skills and experience possible during your studies. Is it compulsory to attend lab work? There are lab demonstrations which are compulsory. Nothing else is compulsory, but it would be a strategic mistake for your studies to miss this part. Our e.g. small angle x-ray scattering instrument costs €300,000 and is the only one in Greece. It is almost 70 times more expensive than your tuition. Are you planning to omit to put your hand on such an instrument? |
